Paulina
I established the Ashtanga Yoga Shala in 2023 out of great passion for Ashtanga Yoga.
With the shala, I want to offer a space where everyone feels comfortable and safe.
I follow the tradition and method of Ashtanga Yoga with great respect and would like
to share my knowledge and experience with others.
THE BEGINNING
I've been practicing yoga since 2010, and since then, yoga has been my life's path and philosophy. In 2015, I completed my first Vinyasa Yoga training (200 hours), and since then, I've continued my yoga practice- my desire for more knowledge and curiosity have always been there, and I've always searched further...
ASHTANGA YOGA
In 2018, I attended my first Ashtanga Yoga class. It was the moment when I said, "Why did I come to Ashtanga so late? I want to practice Ashtanga Yoga for the rest of my life." Now I know it is never too late and every time is good to start the yoga journey.
After the first class, everything hurt, and despite my eight years of yoga experience, I felt like a complete beginner. My ego had to stay out of the shala, and I was allowed to surrender myself into the hands of my yoga teacher. The feeling after the practice was indescribable: my mind was calm and balanced, my body cleansed.
Since that day I have practiced Ashtanga Yoga 6 times a week.
For me, the practice of Ashtanga Yoga means healing and inner reflection on myself and my life, striving to be a good person. This is combined with strict discipline and dedication to the practice of the eight-limbed path of Ashtanga Yoga.
MY TEACHERS
My teachers are Saraswathi Jois (daughter of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois/KPJAY) and Petri Räisänen (student of K. Pattabhi Jois).
I have also deepened my Ashtanga Yoga experience with the following teachers:
Manju Jois, David Williams, Farzad Ahmadpour, Kino McGregor, David Robson and Jelena Vesic, David Keil.
My most important teacher is my little son, who allows me to practice unconditional love, devotion, and presence every day.
The most important teaching experience for me remains my own daily practice, according to the motto of K. Pattabhi Jois:
"Yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory"
The learning process never ends; I will remain an Ashtanga Yoga student forever.
